Baby is a sweet 5-year-old, 48-pound pup highlighted as the pet of the week and available for adoption at the Dubuque Regional Humane Society today—she is shy when meeting new people but becomes playful with high-value treats.
She thrives best as the only pet in a home and can be met at 4242 Chavenelle Road in Dubuque.
Today the Community Foundation of Greater Dubuque is hosting Great Give Day, a 24 hour online only event to support local nonprofits with a goal of $500,000.

The Multicultural Family Center Board of Directors said the loss of AmeriCorps funding means the Summer Teen Empowerment Program will be paused for this summer — the program offers high school elective credit through activities like gardening, financial literacy, and planning.
The center hopes to regain funding so the program can resume later.
The University of Dubuque named Jeanne Rupert as founding Dean for the proposed John and Alice Butler College of Osteopathic Medicine following a national search; she brings over 20 years of experience in academic leadership (including clinical care and public health).

Dubuque city leaders may get a 6.3% raise starting January 1 after a seven-member task force recommended raising the mayor's pay to $15,732 and council members' pay to $11,799 because the cost of living has increased 6.3%—the City Council will review the proposal in June.
During a meeting on Monday, Dubuque County Sheriff Joe Kennedy defended his decision to decline the federal ICE Task Force program—citing a lack of staffing to support both federal duties and local public safety.
