- ➤ Union Community Schools in La Porte City has begun using ZeroEyes—an AI gun detection system that analyzes over three billion images each day—to alert local authorities immediately if a firearm is detected. WJOD
GOVERNMENT NEWS
- ➤ A Texas lawyer explained that under Iowa law, drivers face an OWI charge if their BAC reaches 0.08 percent or if a controlled substance is detected—coffee is not mentioned. He urged drivers to follow safety rules and keep their focus on the road. WJOD
- ➤ Governor Kim Reynolds signed Iowa's new hands-free driving law on April 2—making Iowa the 31st state to pass such legislation in memory of Roland Taylor. The law will go into effect on July 1 with warnings issued until Jan. 1 and increases fines from $45 to $100, with a $500 fine and possible license suspension for causing injury. WJOD
