- ➤ Blu is a 4.5-year-old dog weighing about 63 pounds — she stayed over 200 days at the humane society and is now ready for a loving home. She has attended local events and gets along well with kids, adults, and other pets. WJOD
- ➤ Two Dubuque organizations received part of a $400,000 grant from the Iowa Women’s Foundation to support programs that help women and girls gain economic self-sufficiency. Community Foundation of Greater Dubuque received $25,000—Dubuque Area Labor-Management Council received $10,000 at the foundation’s annual luncheon in Coralville. Radio Dubuque
- ➤ Dubuque Regional Airport will offer an extra Denver Air Connection flight to O’Hare International Airport in Chicago on November 26 — the flight departs at 6:30 p.m. and arrives around 7:35 p.m. on one of the busiest travel days of the year. Radio Dubuque
EDUCATION NEWS
- ➤ At their monthly meeting last night, the Dubuque Community School board discussed plans after voters defeated a $70 million bond issue last week that would have merged Washington and Jefferson Middle Schools—saving about two million dollars a year. The board now faces challenges finding other cost-cutting measures that might affect programs and staff. Radio Dubuque
