- ➤ Dubuque residents can join the Sundown Mountain Resort annual Ski & Snowboard Swap to get ready for winter as families drop off gear on November 8 from 8:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m. and pick up payouts on November 9 from 3:00 to 5:00 p.m.—15% of sales will fund Ski Patrol training. WJOD
EDUCATION NEWS
- ➤ Clarke University—facing rising costs and declining enrollment—announced yesterday that it will phase out 13 under-enrolled academic programs at the end of the current academic year and cut about 35 positions, including 23 faculty and up to 14 staff. The University said 90 percent of current students will not have their academic plans affected by these changes. Radio Dubuque
HEALTH NEWS
- ➤ The Iowa Department of Health and Human Services launched a funding initiative to fight opioid misuse by offering up to $1 million per project (using 75% of opioid settlement funds) and will award $7 million in each of two competitive rounds. Governor Reynolds and Director Larry Johnson said the plan supports prevention, treatment, and recovery services (after input from local advisory councils). KWWL

- ➤ Dubuque Wahlert beat Central Dewitt 38—0 and advanced to the Class 3A State football quarterfinals. KWWL
- ➤ Western Dubuque's Quentin Nauman secured his second 3A Boys state cross country title in a record 14 minutes and 48 seconds — Grundy Center's Emerson Vokes won his second 2A title in 15 minutes and 42 seconds at the state meet. KWWL
- ➤ Don Bosco (7-2) beat Clarksville (7-3) 69-32 to advance to the 8 Man State playoff quarterfinals. KWWL
