COMMUNITY NEWS

  • Crews dismantled the decommissioned water tower at Eagle Point Park on October 23 in Dubuque, and residents watched as heavy machinery removed its pieces—marking the end of a long-standing local landmark.  KCRG
  • The Dubuque County Fair Association held its board election this week with Kevin Donovan, Mary Gansen, Amanda Gaul, Bill Hanten, Bob Hochrein, Phil Kruse and Amanda Wessels re-elected for three-year terms while Donna Schmitt was newly elected for a three-year term.  Radio Dubuque
  • Registration is underway for this year’s Dubuque Toys for Tots distributions—one runs from November 24th to December 11th at the Multicultural Family Center and the other takes place December 17th and 18th at The Salvation Army in Dubuque.  Radio Dubuque

ECONOMY NEWS

  • Dubuque Regional Airport has extended its $100 flight rebate for round-trip flights purchased through the end of the year for both individuals and businesses — more than 750 passengers have already used it. The airport will add an extra evening return flight on November 26 — serving Thanksgiving travelers.  KCRG

EDUCATION NEWS

  • Loras College is inaugurating Michael Doyle as its 27th president today with a Mass of Celebration at 10 a.m. at the Cathedral of St. Raphael—followed by the Inauguration Ceremony at 1 p.m. inside the Lillis Athletic & Wellness Center on campus and livestreamed for those who cannot attend.  Radio Dubuque

GOVERNMENT NEWS

  • The Iowa Department of Transportation will start maintenance work on the Julien Dubuque Bridge after May 25 next year and will close it for one month with an eastbound detour for three months—repairs will cover the deck joint, railings, and sidewalk approaches while transit services are planned for pedestrians. Costs for the $7.7 million project will be shared with Illinois.  KWWL
