- ➤ The Dock Dogs World Championships will return to downtown Dubuque at the Five Flags Civic Center during the first week of November. The competition will run from November 4 through November 9 and feature about 450 human competitors and over 600 dogs in finals on Thursday night and Saturday and Sunday+ all events are free to attend. GOVERNMENT NEWS
- ➤ Drivers using U.S. 20 in Dubuque must plan a detour when the Julien Dubuque Bridge closes for repairs starting July 6th, 2026. The Iowa DOT said the full closure will last about one month with eastbound detours lasting up to three months while crews fix deck joints, paint the steel, seal the deck and replace the handrail — work needed to keep the bridge safe. - ➤ Platinum Holdings, which owns the Grand Harbor Resort and Waterpark in the Port of Dubuque, is facing foreclosure as it owes nearly $10 million and a court-ordered Sheriff’s Sale is set for December 9 — the city, holding landlord status, has received several inquiries from investors and looks forward to working with new owners.
