COMMUNITY NEWS
- ➤ The City of Dubuque Parks and Recreation Department is asking residents to share ideas for new playground equipment at Gay Park, Jefferson Park, Madison Park, and near the Fuhrman Pavilion at Louis Murphy Park—new play structures and colorful rubber surfacing will be installed in spring 2026. Residents can complete online surveys through October 30th—those preferring paper surveys may call the Parks and Recreation office. WJOD
CULTURE NEWS
- ➤ Russ Bolibaugh, caretaker of the iconic Field of Dreams in Dyersville, will be featured on Iowa PBS’s Iowa Life on November 4th at 6:30 p.m.—with a rebroadcast on November 9th at 10:30 a.m.—as the show highlights his work keeping the field in perfect shape while also coaching local baseball and bowling perfect games. - ➤ Dubuque County Historical Society received a $25,000 grant from the Dubuque Racing Association Core Grant Program to restore Mathias Ham House, a historic home built in 1857 on Lincoln Avenue near Eagle Point Park — the multi-year project will update windows, doors, masonry, and floors to preserve this local landmark. EDUCATION NEWS
- ➤ The Dubuque Community School District is asking voters to approve a $70 million bond to change its middle school plan by closing Jefferson and keeping Roosevelt while deciding Washington’s future. Washington may be replaced with a new building that saves money in the long run—if voters reject the bond, the district will face further closures and cuts. KCRG

- ➤ Drivers using the Julien Dubuque Bridge are advised by the Iowa DOT that traffic will be detoured in 2026—this change will add about 15 minutes to commutes as vehicles are rerouted from U.S. 20 over the Mississippi through the Dubuque-Wisconsin Bridge and back via Wisconsin Highways 11/35 to Illinois Highway 35 in East Dubuque.
