- ➤ Residents in Dubuque can share ideas on new play equipment and rubber surfacing upgrades at Gay Park, Jefferson Park, Madison Park and near Fuhrman Pavilion at Louis Murphy Park. The City of Dubuque Parks and Recreation Department is gathering feedback via online surveys open until October 30—this input will guide equipment selection before installation planned for spring 2026. - ➤ Fall colors in Iowa are coming later this year because trees are holding onto their green longer due to warm weather and dry conditions. Iowa DNR forester Mark Vitosh said some leaves may turn brown (skipping the bright reds and oranges) and that the peak in Eastern Iowa will likely occur later in October (with spots such as Linn County showing early hints). - ➤ The Dubuque County Public Health Department will host a public meeting on cancer in Dubuque County on Monday, October 27th from 6 to 7 at Roosevelt Middle School—attendees can also join online via Zoom.
