Good morning, Dubuque.
Tonight, the Dubuque Museum of Art at the Dupaco Voices Building on Jackson Street will host the Envision 2030 Finale from 5 to 7—Community Foundation of Greater Dubuque and the Dubuque Area Chamber of Commerce will unveil the top 10 ideas chosen from community submissions, and visitors must RSVP.
Community leaders picked 10 main projects from over 3,000 ideas for Dubuque’s future in the Envision 2030 initiative, with plans that include a children’s museum and a sports hub (to serve all ages).
A planning session (November 10, from 5:30 to 7 p.m.) at the Q Casino Resort Reflections Room invites residents to help bring these projects to life.
Dawson Elliott of Epworth was named the American Legion of Iowa Eagle Scout of the Year after leading a community project that built an outdoor rosary path at St. John the Baptist Catholic Church in Peosta (he earned statewide recognition and a college scholarship).
With clocks set to fall back in early November, Dubuque drivers face a 300% spike in deer-vehicle collisions as groggy reaction times and active deer on rural roads raise the risk of serious accidents—motorists are urged to slow down and stay alert.
Thirteen students at Dubuque Senior are playing Beep Baseball today, a game that uses audio cues—such as a beeping ball and bases—to let blind and visually impaired players hit, field and run while forming bonds with teammates.
The program gives these young athletes a chance to experience America's pastime in a way that meets their unique needs.
