HEALTH NEWS

  • The Dubuque Drug Task Force is hosting National Drug Takeback Day at the Dubuque Fire Training Facility on Public Safety Way from 10 a.m. until 2 p.m. on October 25th—inviting residents to safely dispose of unwanted prescription and over-the-counter medications, syringes, and other items in their original containers when possible.  Radio Dubuque
  • Health experts from across the country met today in Ankeny to discuss Iowa’s rising cancer rates—the fastest growing in the nation—and to focus research on factors like smoking, alcohol, obesity, and pesticide exposure. They also warned that federal funding cuts to the National Cancer Institute could challenge efforts to track and study cancers such as melanoma, lung, breast, and prostate.  KCRG

SPORTS NEWS

  • The Dubuque Fighting Saints set a franchise record by scoring 11 goals in an 11—4 rout of the Chicago Steel on Pink the Rink night, with Hayden Russell tying the team record for points in one game. The team, who improved to a 7—0 start this season, will face the Muskegon Lumberjacks on Friday and Saturday at Trinity Health Arena.  WJOD
