- ➤ Today the University of Dubuque hosts the POP-UP Festival: Kindness at Chalmers Field from 10:45 a.m. to noon—around 700 attendees including 300 second graders, 300 UD Worldview students, and over 130 volunteers will join activities that teach emotional intelligence as part of a community initiative led by the Wendt Center. BUSINESS NEWS
- ➤ Dubuque Regional Airport will shift Denver Air’s O’Hare flight by moving the departure to 7:15 a.m. on November 1 so passengers have more time for connections, with the flight arriving at 8:20 a.m. KCRG
- ➤ Starting November 1st, Dubuque Regional Airport passengers will have an earlier flight when Denver Air Connection departs at 7:15 a.m. and arrives at O’Hare at 8:20 a.m.—a change made in response to customer feedback to offer more connecting flights. WJOD
CULTURE NEWS
- ➤ The Dubuque County Historical Society will host family-friendly Halloween events at the National Mississippi River Museum & Aquarium and the Mathias Ham Historic Site, with guided trolley tours on October 10th and October 17th to share local ghost stories. Families will join Mad Scientist Fun Day at the River Museum on October 26th from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. to try hands-on science experiments & enjoy Halloween fun. WJOD
GOVERNMENT NEWS
- ➤ The Dubuque City Council approved spending $2.5 million to keep daily air service at the regional airport through June while asking local businesses to raise $750,000 by December 10th. The plan will be reviewed in December — if the service does not reach 80% occupancy — and the city will seek federal aid if needed. KCRG
