- ➤ Local families will enjoy the 2nd Annual Touch-A-Truck event hosted by Kaden's Kids—an event honoring Kaden Lynch that supports safety education and grief support programs. The event will take place on October 5 from 11 AM to 4 PM at the Dubuque County Fairgrounds with free admission and donations benefiting the nonprofit. WJOD
EDUCATION NEWS
- ➤ Dubuque voters will decide on Nov. 4 whether to approve a $70 million bond that will consolidate three middle schools into two by closing Washington and Jefferson and building a new climate controlled school on the Washington site. Supporters expect updated classrooms and annual savings while critics argue that renovating the old buildings could be a better option—raising concerns about taxes and the loss of historic character. - ➤ Dubuque City Council will plan a new sports complex for next fiscal year that is expected to create over 1,000 jobs & generate at least $20 million in annual revenue, after a study showed most residents find current sports facilities insufficient. KCRG
