- ➤ Dubuque Mayor Brad Cavanagh was named Mayor of the Year on Sept. 17 in Des Moines by the Iowa Mayors Association in the Over 10,000 category—he earned the honor by serving as board president of the Iowa League of Cities and working hard for our community. - ➤ The Dubuque Fire Department now accepts firefighter applications year-round to boost staffing amid retirements — Fire Chief Amy Scheller said the department will ask the city for funds to hire up to five new full-time workers and raise the minimum staffing requirement from 24 to 29. The change follows concerns that a seasonal window limited the pool of qualified candidates. KCRG
- ➤ Voting for the Dubuque County Fair Association Board of Directors is set for Tuesday, October 21st at the Grand Ballroom at the Dubuque County Fairgrounds—eight incumbents and four new candidates are on the ballot. Radio Dubuque
- ➤ Since this morning, southbound lanes of Wacker Drive from John F. Kennedy Road to the Kennedy Mall access lane are closed for concrete repair. The work will continue until 5 p.m. on October 6 — southbound traffic is routed to one northbound lane, so motorists must follow posted detours. KWWL
