- ➤ Dubuque Mayor Brad Cavanagh was named Mayor of the Year by the Iowa Mayors Association in the Over 10,000 category for his work that makes his part-time role seem full-time—he accepted the award at the association’s meeting earlier this week. Radio Dubuque

- ➤ Iowa won a 38—28 game at Rutgers on Sept 19 when quarterback Mark Gronowski broke records with three rushing touchdowns in one game and four straight games with a rushing score. Coach Kirk Ferentz said the team will build on this progress as Big Ten play continues. The Gazette
