- ➤ The City of Dubuque Planning Services Department is asking residents to give feedback on turning a temporary parking lot into a new plaza in the Historic Millwork District through an online survey open until October 12 — in-person sessions will be held in November and December to help shape the design. EDUCATION NEWS
- ➤ Emmaus University in Dubuque received its largest gift in school history— a $1.5 million donation from a longtime supporter who left the gift following his death; the donation will boost support for students by funding a $6,000 Founder's Grant for each undergraduate. Radio Dubuque
GOVERNMENT NEWS
- ➤ Iowa’s Region 8 Regional Transit Authority—RTA—said a funding shortfall may jeopardize rides for thousands to work and school in Delaware, Dubuque and Jackson counties. The agency faces a $142-thousand deficit in fiscal year 2026 that will rise to $311-thousand by 2028 and is asking Dubuque County for $50-thousand and the other counties for $25-thousand to keep bus service running. - ➤ Former Congressman Rod Blum has announced his candidacy for Iowa's Second Congressional District. He served from 2015 to 2018 and now plans to serve Eastern Iowa—entering the race as current seat holder Ashley Hinson runs for the U.S. Senate. KWWL
