This week the Dubuque Regional Humane Society introduced Dozer—a gentle stray who walks well on a leash and gets along with other dogs, and he is ready to be adopted by a family that can manage his playful size and need for structure.

At a Dubuque meeting Tuesday night, David Cwiertny said risk-free water does not exist because many private wells exceed the nitrate limits—a study in six counties showed that 10% of wells are above safe levels.

Allie White from Dubuque County Public Health said the county now uses state funds to help well owners test their water with free kits.
