- ➤ ITC Midwest will begin low-flying helicopter patrols from September 22nd to October 4th to inspect power lines — transformer stations and surrounding vegetation in Iowa — Illinois — and Wisconsin so crews can spot and address potential issues before outages occur. WJOD
CULTURE NEWS
- ➤ The Dubuque County Historical Society received a $50,000 grant from the State Historical Society to fund a survey of the William M. Black—a steam-propelled, sidewheel dredge boat now serving as a museum ship at the National Mississippi River Museum & Aquarium. A maritime expert will assess its condition to guide conservation efforts for this National Historic Landmark. KWWL

- ➤ The U.S. Army’s ROTC program at the University of Dubuque remains active as the Army changes its plan so it becomes an extension unit at the University of Iowa—about 20 students now get scholarships and training for a commission. The program was slated to close before the 2026-27 school year but will continue under this revised plan. Radio Dubuque

- ➤ Dubuque City Council will meet tomorrow night to decide if the city should spend up to $1.6 million in funds to help run daily air service at Dubuque Regional Airport after the federal grant for flights to O’Hare was used up—raising concerns about keeping the service running.
