- ➤ Seventy-five local volunteers rappelled 13 stories from the top of the MidWestOne Bank building on Friday during the Over the Edge event to raise money for United Way, and the funds will help 35 local nonprofit groups work to reduce poverty. KCRG
GOVERNMENT NEWS
- ➤ A one block area of Main Street in downtown Dubuque will be closed through next year for construction of the University of Dubuque’s John and Alice Butler Osteopathic Medicine campus at 500 Main Street. The closure—running from the West 5th Street intersection to the property edge—will not affect the sidewalk on the west side. Radio Dubuque
- ➤ On September 10, IowaWORKS required job seekers who have not received unemployment benefits in the past 12 months to show proof of work eligibility with a passport or work permit—those who already received benefits are exempt. Applicants must upload or bring their valid documents to a local office to receive personalized career counseling and resume help. WJOD
- ➤ Dubuque Regional Airport is hosting a TSA PreCheck enrollment event at the Capt. Robert L. Martin Terminal from October 14th to October 17th to help travelers get through security faster—appointments take about 10 minutes, require valid ID, and include a fee of $76.75. WJOD
