🎓 Education
Dubuque Community School District leaders thanked nearly 9,000 voters after ballots approved a Physical Plant and Equipment Levy increase that will fund repairs in schools + cover bus costs; Superintendent Amy Hawkins said the funds will boost building maintenance and sustainability.
🏥 Health
A measles outbreak in southwest Wisconsin has grown to 157 cases, including 18 in Grant County plus 62 and 77 in Iowa and Lafayette counties.
Health officials say most cases were in unvaccinated individuals, with five hospitalizations and no deaths reported.
Dubuque County’s University of Iowa Marching Band member Derek Phillips (a 2024 Western Dubuque High School graduate from Peosta) died Tuesday morning after collapsing with heat stroke during a home football game on Saturday, and the band will honor his memory at the Iowa-Iowa State game this Saturday.
