EDUCATION NEWS
- ➤ Holy Family Schools in Dubuque announced a $30 million plan for facilities improvements that include a 750-seat auditorium, an eight-lane track and turf field, renovated classrooms, and extra parking — officials say $20 million has been raised and ground breaking will begin this spring amid rising enrollment. - ➤ Dubuque's wastewater facility had 72 violations from 2020 to 2024 and was fined $7,000 after problems from contractor error and an explosion—city officials approved an Administrative Consent Order on August 18th. The city is investing over $134 million, including a $7.3 million upgrade for high-strength waste, to prevent future failures—measures that will boost system reliability. WJOD
- ➤ A downtown building led by Dubuque Initiatives is getting a renovation after receiving a $100K grant from the Iowa Economic Development Authority—Dubuque City Council approved a contract with the state and work is underway on the storefront and five apartment units at 17th Street and Central Avenue.
