- ➤ A judge reset the trial for Hiawatha man Logan Kimpton (19) accused of helping his roommate and another man kidnap, torture and murder Melody Hoffman on Feb. 17 after his attorney requested more depositions; the trial will begin on Nov. 18 in Linn County District Court. The Gazette
- ➤ A former Iowa nurse from Onawa, Sarah Ann Haptonstall, 47, was sentenced Thursday to 42 months in federal prison for stealing pain medications from nursing home patients, burglarizing homes for drugs, and committing bank fraud—she must repay over $8,000 in restitution and $5,000 in legal fees—while serving three years of supervised release.
