  • The Dubuque Regional Humane Society has launched its Pet Portrait Fundraiser where a $25 donation earns a custom 8x10 portrait drawn by volunteers + all funds go directly to shelter care for animals in need. Submissions will be accepted until Wednesday, July 23 at 11:59 p.m.  WJOD

ECONOMY NEWS

  • Families in Dubuque can take advantage of Iowa's tax-free weekend on August 1 and 2 when clothing and footwear under $100 are exempt from sales tax while Kennedy Mall offers extra savings for shoppers spending at least $250 from July 21 to August 17—this offer is available while supplies last.  KWWL

EDUCATION NEWS

  • Today, Dubuque students join Serve Dubuque—a six-week summer program—to learn leadership, financial skills, and teamwork while earning high school credit and up to $500 by working on community service projects like cleaning trails at Eagle Point Park. The program was created after AmeriCorps funding cuts in April led local leaders to design a new opportunity that benefits both students and the community.  KCRG
  • Dubuque College Visit Week runs from July 28 through August 1 and gives high school juniors and seniors a chance to tour campuses, meet professors, and see student life at five local colleges — Clarke, Emmaus, Loras, Northeast Iowa Community College and the University of Dubuque.  KWWL
