- ➤ A vehicle crash left a teenager injured on Saturday when 19-year-old Adrianna Becker lost control, struck a utility pole, and overturned on Route 5 West near North Indian Ridge Road — she was taken to Mercy Medical Center with non-life threatening injuries. Radio Dubuque

- ➤ The Community Foundation of Greater Dubuque will host the 3rd annual Rural Teacher Summit for rural schools teachers on Thursday, August 7th in Maquoketa+ the free event will include breakout sessions, speakers, breakfast, lunch and a $25 gas gift card to offset travel costs. Radio Dubuque
ENVIRONMENT NEWS
- ➤ Miller Riverview Campground in Dubuque closed today because the Mississippi River reached 14.4 feet — city officials said it will stay closed until further notice while they expect it to reopen this weekend. Radio Dubuque
- ➤ Vince Evelsizer of the Iowa DNR said bobcat numbers in Iowa have grown by about 7% each year since 2007 while coyote counts remain stable to slightly increasing and black bears are seen more often in the northeast. He advised residents to give wildlife space—especially coyotes that can threaten small pets—and report any sightings if concerns arise. The Gazette

- ➤ After receiving $362,250 in federal funds, Dubuque will recruit 34 AmeriCorps members in September to support local children and community organizations—this grant follows an April cancellation order from DOGE that had halted the program and paused the Summer Teen Empowerment Program. The members will assist with homework and social-emotional support in schools and at other local agencies when students return this fall. KCRG
