Good morning, Dubuque.

Dubuque Police arrested 28-year-old Evan Schmitt for allegedly possessing and distributing child pornography via a messaging app in June and July 2024—he faces six counts of sexual exploitation of a minor and five counts of possessing depictions of a minor in a sex act.

Iowa has no law that sets a minimum age for kids to be home alone — parents must decide based on the child's ability to handle emergencies, and experts recommend children under 12 stay supervised to avoid neglect charges.
