- ➤ Cities across eastern Iowa are preparing for Fourth of July fireworks and local festivals — in Dubuque, the Jaycees and Radio Dubuque Fireworks and Air Show will take place on Thursday, July 3 at A.Y. McDonald Park from 12:00 p.m. to 10:30 p.m. KCRG

- ➤ An Iowa Farm Bureau survey found that 80 percent of grocery shoppers are concerned about government rules raising food prices, with 47 percent very worried. The report noted that more Iowans are buying locally grown food as trust in local farmers remains high (69 percent have purchased directly from farms). The Gazette

- ➤ The City of Dubuque is opening cooling centers from Saturday through Tuesday to help residents cope with extreme heat at locations such as Carnegie-Stout Public Library, Dubuque Intermodal Transportation Center, and Dubuque Rescue Mission. Officials urge everyone to stay hydrated and check on neighbors—especially the elderly, young children and those with chronic health issues—while temperatures remain high. Radio Dubuque
- ➤ The Dubuque City Council approved an updated ordinance this week that allows consumer fireworks on July 3 (9:00 a.m. to 10:00 p.m.), July 4 (9:00 a.m. to 11:00 p.m.) and December 31 (9:00 a.m. to 11:59 p.m.) only on private property with the owner's consent to align with new Iowa law. Residents are urged to use fireworks cautiously since violations result in a misdemeanor and fines starting at $250. Radio Dubuque
