COMMUNITY NEWS

  • A major apartment complex project on Volunteer Drive is changing Dubuque’s 30-year July 3 airshow and fireworks display that draws crowds to the riverfront and A.Y. McDonald Park. Nearly 1,000 parking spaces are lost, the U.S. Army Golden Knights Parachute Team is replaced by the All-Veteran Parachute Team, and organizers will offer shuttle service from new grass-lot parking—changes that will affect where people watch the show—though the event will go on.  KWWL
  • The 39th annual Summer Farm Toy Show will begin Saturday morning at the National Farm Toy Museum on 16th Avenue Southeast in Dyersville and run through Sunday with hours from 9 to 2. Saturday’s schedule features a tractor parade at Beckman Catholic High School at 6:30 p.m., and admission is $7+children 10 and under are free+with an early access pass for 8 a.m. entry costing $20.  Radio Dubuque

CRIME NEWS

  • Dubuque Police arrested three men for allegedly stealing more than $33,000 from a bank ATM using a high tech method known as ATM jackpotting + the defendants now face charges for first degree theft, second degree criminal mischief and ongoing criminal conduct while held on a $200,000 bond.  Radio Dubuque
  • An Arizona man was convicted last week of distributing fentanyl and methamphetamine in Dubuque — 43-year-old Daniel Van Gorp mailed controlled substances to a local distributor and now faces a mandatory minimum of 20 years as well as a potential life sentence.  Radio Dubuque

ECONOMY NEWS

  • Celebrating 40 years, the Dubuque Racing Association reinvested over $1.1 billion from Q Casino + Resort and other operations to lower property taxes by $216 per homeowner and fund local projects; it has also granted over $52 million to nonprofits and supported the upcoming 2.5-acre children’s garden set to open in 2026.  KCRG
