ACCIDENTS NEWS
- ➤ A home in the Thunder Hills Golf Course area was destroyed by an early Sunday morning fire at about 3 a.m., with fire crews from Centralia/Peosta, Farley, Asbury and Epworth responding quickly, and owners Jeffery and Jonna Walters escaped safely with damage estimated at $500K and the cause under investigation. - ➤ A home on Cedar Ridge Court in Dubuque County was completely destroyed by a fire that began around 3 a.m. Sunday — all residents safely evacuated as investigators ruled out suspicious causes. KWWL
- ➤ Dubuque Fire Department responded Sunday morning to a fire at the Dubuque Metropolitan Area Landfill & with help from Asbury and Peosta crews, the incident was under control by 9 a.m. with no injuries reported. KCRG
EDUCATION NEWS
- ➤ Emmaus Bible College in Dubuque spent $55,763 on its men’s basketball teams in 2024, falling $976,390 short of the state average of $1,032,153 according to the U.S.-Department of Education. The expense represented 15.2% of the college’s overall athletic budget. Dubuque Times

- ➤ Today, Dubuque City Council will consider a $2.6 million plan to create Foundry Square in the Millwork District by converting 57 parking spots into a park with lawns, play and event areas — an alternate design preserves 10 spots to support local businesses. KCRG

- ➤ Senior Life Solutions launched in Dyersville in April to help seniors manage depression and anxiety through group sessions and individual therapy without needing a doctor's referral. The program offers a new support option to improve quality of life for older adults. KCRG
