CRIME NEWS

  • Police arrested 19-year-old Jordan Quinn after he threatened a Loras College security guard with a knife around 2 a.m. Sunday morning in the 1500 block of Henion Street—he was charged with interference with official acts while displaying a weapon, being ineligible to carry a dangerous weapon, public intoxication and two counts of assault while displaying a dangerous weapon.  Radio Dubuque

EDUCATION NEWS

  • Dubuque County schools enrolled 334 Hawaiian or Pacific Islander students during the 2023-24 school year (11% increase from last year). The students made up 2.6% of the 12,797 total, with Hempstead High School reporting the highest count at 65 students (the largest enrollment among county schools).  Dubuque Times

HEALTH NEWS

  • Iowa Donor Network is teaching nurses, EMTs and other health workers how to report deaths for organ and tissue donation so more donor referrals are made. In 2024, 130 organ donors provided 387 organs and 1,114 tissue donors helped many people while Logan's Law from fall 2019 added over 6,000 new registered donors.  The Gazette
