ACCIDENTS NEWS
- ➤ An Asbury couple was injured in a rear-end collision shortly before 8 a.m. on Thursday at the intersection of Dodge and Locust Streets in Dubuque—John Nemmers and his passenger Donna Nemmers were treated at Finley Hospital while Erin Ogborn was cited for following too closely. Radio Dubuque
- ➤ Dubuque firefighters said a boat was destroyed today at American Marine after a fire broke out around 11:10 a.m.—they put out the flames in 15 minutes with no injuries but noted minor damage to nearby boats and the covered marina, and the cause is under investigation. KCRG

- ➤ Dubuque’s National Mississippi River Museum and Aquarium now hosts Ice Dinosaurs, a summer exhibit featuring life-sized animatronic dinosaurs, fossils and interactive displays that show how these animals thrived in the Arctic. On Saturday, June 14th, paleontologist Dr. Greg Erickson will give two talks of 30 minutes each at 10:00 a.m. and 1:00 p.m.—tickets cost $5 with limited seating. WJOD
EDUCATION NEWS
- ➤ During the 2023 to 2024 school year, Dubuque County public schools enrolled 640 Hispanic students, making up 5% of 12,797 total students+ a 3.1% rise from last year. Dubuque Senior High School recorded the highest Hispanic enrollment with 96 students. Dubuque Times
GOVERNMENT NEWS
- ➤ National Guard soldiers from the 1st Battalion, 133rd Infantry, known as the Ironman Battalion, will train at Fort Johnson before deploying to the Middle East next week. A send-off ceremony will be held Wednesday at 5:45 p.m. at the Dubuque County Fairgrounds and a parade will follow on Old Highway Road—joining some 1,800 Iowa guardsmen in the deployment.
