  • Nearly 3 million Iowans will drive over Memorial Day weekend as high gas prices (currently at $4.31) prompt longer trips, and AAA advises drivers to maintain speeds below 55 to help save fuel and money.  WJOD

EDUCATION NEWS

  • In 2024, Clarke University in Dubuque awarded $11,220,053 in athletic financial aid to 398 male and 220 female student-athletes and saw male athletes receive 90.8% more aid than female teammates, marking a 44.7% increase from last year.  Dubuque Times
  • In 2024, Clarke University spent $3,035,690 on its football programs with a 6% rise from the previous year and this represented 20.1% of its total sports budget, according to the U.S. Department of Education.  Dubuque Times

HEALTH NEWS

  • Ennoble Nursing and Rehab ranked as Dubuque County’s third largest nursing home in Q1, caring for 67.6 residents daily with 85 available beds (no fines were reported) and earning a 5 rating from CMS.  Dubuque Times

SPORTS NEWS

  • Women's collegiate basketball teams in Dubuque County received $1,177,161 during 2024, marking an 8.3% rise from last season's spending according to U.S. Department of Education data; overall, basketball teams spent $2.6 million amid significant growth since 2010.  Dubuque Times
