  • Textile Brewing Company in Dyersville offers craft beers and giant pretzels in a relaxed setting. Housed in a restored factory, the brewpub features indoor seating, a Biergarten, and TVs to catch local games ahead of an upcoming soccer season.  WJOD

  • Joseph Kosinski, known for Top Gun: Maverick and F1, credits his Iowa childhood with sparking his creativity. Raised in Marshalltown — he still visits for local events — he is directing a Miami Vice remake featuring Michael B. Jordan and Austin Butler, with a late summer release planned.  WJOD

ENVIRONMENT NEWS

  • White Pine Hollow offers a rugged hiking experience—fading trails, cold streams and towering pines—in Dubuque County near Luxemburg. Hikers visiting today should be cautious of washouts after recent storms.  WJOD

GOVERNMENT NEWS

  • Joe Messerich was confirmed by City Council as Dubuque’s next police chief and will replace Chief Jeremy Jensen when he retires in August; the longtime officer plans to build on current technology and prioritizes strong support for his team (he prefers being known by his first name).  KCRG
  • Dubuque City Council approved plans to extend Bee Branch Trail by adding bike lanes on Ninth and 10th streets, shared markings on Elm, Main, and Eighth, and expanded sidewalks along the Highway 151 on-ramp. The $308,000 project will boost local biking & be mostly funded by a $215,000 federal grant.  KWWL
  • The FDA inspected five Food and Cosmetics companies in Dubuque County in 2025, marking a 400% increase from the previous year, and all received no action indicated.  Dubuque Times

HEALTH NEWS

  • Ennoble Nursing and Rehab in Dubuque earned a top 5-star CMS rating for Q1 2026. The for-profit facility, owned by Sheldon Goldberger, Shlomo Hoffman and Jonah Svarc, served an average of 68 residents per day and had no recorded fines during that period.  Dubuque Times

  • Dubuque County spent ($1,457,984) on men's college basketball teams in 2024, a 16.2% increase over last year, according to the U.S. Department of Education data.  Dubuque Times
