- ➤ In April, Dubuque Regional Humane Society took in 73 dogs—only 20 found new homes. The shelter faces higher costs for each dog staying longer as economic uncertainty and limited pet-friendly housing keep adoptions low. KCRG
- ➤ The City of Dubuque and the Dubuque Bike Coop are co-sponsoring Bike Week from May 12 through May 18 with 13 events planned, including a Friday bike-in picnic at Bee Branch Amphitheatre from 5:30 to 7. The City is encouraging residents to ride bicycles for travel or recreation and its Jule bus service will offer free rides (bike racks required) during the week. Radio Dubuque

- ➤ Kelly Eigenberger, a Title I reading teacher at Lincoln Elementary School, was named the Dubuque Community School District Teacher of the Year at the Educators’ Recognition Reception last night.
