- ➤ A motorcyclist was taken to the hospital after colliding with a car in Dubuque County on Wednesday night at around 9:44 p.m. in the 1400 block of 9th Street SE—the car driver suffered minor injuries and the crash is under investigation. KCRG

- ➤ Eastern Iowa Catholics celebrated the election of Pope Leo XIV—the first American chosen to lead the Catholic Church—as Dubuque parishioners held a Mass when the news broke. Professors and 14 students from Loras College will travel to Vatican City for a 10-day course to visit historic churches and attend Mass. KWWL

- ➤ A deadly fungus is reducing Iowa bats and risking the natural insect control they provide, a change that experts say may lead to more pests soon. - ➤ Today, the City of Dubuque began its annual asphalt overlay program that will improve just under 10 centerline miles on 42 city streets in phases from May to September.
