- ➤ Last week, University of Dubuque students moved out of residence halls and filled donation bins with clothing, blankets, rugs and decorations to collect nearly 9.5 cubic yards of items. - ➤ Mr. Sushi, a nearly 1-year-old and 13-pound de-scented skunk, works as an emotional support animal with owner Chris Alberts who has taken him on daily visits to boost morale among police, firefighters, and veterans at places like the Garwin Public Library+Alberts plans to certify him as a therapy animal and launch a nonprofit to extend his support to more local heroes. - ➤ The City of Dubuque is proposing a new ordinance after chaotic black bear sightings last summer to keep people and bears safe. The ordinance—designed to ban feeding or harassing bears and require removal of attractants for at least 10 days after a sighting—will be discussed at Monday night's City Council meeting. KWWL
- ➤ The Dubuque City Council will discuss a proposed ordinance on Monday that will make it illegal to feed or harass bears—officials say recent sightings in residential and public areas have raised concerns about public safety. The ordinance would also require removal of items like bird feeders or trash when requested by police or conservation officials. KCRG
