- ➤ A Milwaukee man aged 37, Mickey Miller, pleaded guilty yesterday in US District Court in Cedar Rapids for holding a Dubuque woman at gunpoint last year and for possessing a loaded firearm in October 2024; he may face up to 15 years in prison, a $250,000 fine and three years of supervised release. ENVIRONMENT NEWS
- ➤ Today, Dubuque is working to cut carbon emissions by 50% from 2003 levels by 2030. The city's Office of Sustainability is planting over 5,000 trees by 2029, ordering an all-electric transit bus before the end of the year, and tracking energy use in city buildings - steps aimed at building a cleaner community. - ➤ Today the Iowa DOT is washing the Julien Dubuque Bridge so eastbound lanes will be closed from 6 a.m. to 3 p.m. until Friday + eastbound drivers will be detoured using Highways 61/151 to the Iowa-Wisconsin Bridge + they will return to Highway 20 via Highway 35. Radio Dubuque
- ➤ Last night, the Dubuque City Council approved the $14.6 million Phase Two upgrades to the Catfish Creek sanitary sewer system at the Old Mill Road Lift Station and Force Main project. The project will go out to bid and be primarily built in 2026—raising monthly sewer bills by nearly $5. Radio Dubuque
