- ➤ Pattison Sand Company asked the DNR to nearly quadruple its annual water withdrawal from about 977 million to 3.7 billion gallons for its quarry expansion near the Mississippi River in Clayton County—some residents worry the change may affect local wells and allow out-of-state water sales, and a public hearing will be held at 5:30 p.m. on April 22 in Elkader to gather input. - ➤ Residents in southwest Wisconsin and northeast Iowa suffered property damage after a severe thunderstorm dropped baseball sized hail in Platteville, egg sized hail near Tennyson, and ping pong ball sized hail near Guttenberg on Friday morning. - ➤ Authorities confirmed that invasive spotted lanternflies and their eggs have been found in Iowa today along with 16 other states.
