- ➤ Iowa farmers worry that a new 10% tariff on Canadian potash fertilizer starting April 2 will make fertilizer more expensive and hurt their incomes. - ➤ Dubuque Community School District will hold a public hearing on its proposed tax levy on Monday, April 7th at 4 p.m. at the Forum on Chaney Road—officials say the final rate, estimated at about $13.40 per $1,000 and not to exceed that, depends on state funding for the fiscal year starting July 1st. - ➤ Tomorrow, before the 5:15 council meeting, Dubuque City Council will hold a work session to review the Sports Complex Feasibility Study on Schmitt Island presented by *RDG Planning & Design and Johnson Consulting*. - ➤ Ohio lawmakers introduced Senate Bill 89 that gives gym users a tax deduction up to $1,500 and a nonrefundable credit of $200 for gym memberships or personal training, prompting some to wonder if Iowa might follow with a similar incentive to improve local fitness after only 20 percent met recommended exercise levels in 2021. - ➤ The Dubuque Fire Department is asking residents to complete an online survey as it develops a new strategic plan—questions cover topics like response times and service quality.
