- ➤ The Dubuque Fire Department responded on Thursday to a fire at a recycling center on the 1700 block of Radford Road — firefighters removed a burning 20‑foot pile with a loader and contained the blaze with no injuries reported. KCRG

- ➤ A University of Dubuque professor (Adam Kleinschmit, PhD) discovered living bacteria in scorpion venom using DNA sequencing. His research may help local scientists develop new antibiotics and tougher medicines in future studies. WJOD
