- ➤ Between Nov. 10 and Jan. 10, Dubuque recycled nearly 5,000 pounds of holiday lights in a sustained effort organized by DMASWA, the City, local libraries, and Steve's Ace Hardware (the program has kept more than 26,000 pounds out of landfills since its launch). WJOD
GOVERNMENT NEWS
- ➤ The Iowa Department of Transportation will inspect the Julien Dubuque Bridge on Tuesday, Feb. 10 and Wednesday, Feb. 11, closing its eastbound lanes from 6:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m. and directing traffic via highways 61/151 (accessing highways 11 and 35) ahead of a rehabilitation project. - ➤ Winneshiek County District Judge ruled in favor of NICC when former president Herbert Riedel sued over his November 2023 firing, saying the board acted with just cause under Iowa Code. The court found that the closed-door meeting to discuss a performance action plan did not violate open meetings law. Radio Dubuque

- ➤ Dubuque welcomes athletes of all ages as it hosts the Winter Iowa Games where competitors take part in more than a dozen sports events each weekend this month. The competitions will run through March 7 and feature nearly 3,000 athletes from 17 Iowa cities. KWWL
