COMMUNITY NEWS
- ➤ Save Our Churches Save Our Communities is holding a public meeting on Wednesday, Feb. 11 at 7 p.m. at the Dyersville Social Center to discuss an Archdiocese proposal that would consolidate 160 Catholic parishes across 30 counties. Radio Dubuque
- ➤ The Archdiocese clarified that only limited repairs for Queen of Peace Parish in Waterloo have been approved after a partial ceiling collapse last August—work will focus on removing the damaged ceiling and fixing leaks, while donations are being collected to cover the costs. KWWL
- ➤ This February, the Dubuque Regional Humane Society invites the community to send hand-drawn valentines to adoptable shelter pets at its 4242 Chavenelle Road front desk + online. The fundraiser aims to raise $5,000 to support adoptions and brighten pets’ days. WJOD

- ➤ In January, AM 1490 WDBQ—a longstanding station since 1937—had its signal travel thousands of miles to a cabin above the Arctic Circle in Finland, where DXer and professor Dr. Jopi Nyman recorded the familiar jingle on his high-end setup. WJOD
EDUCATION NEWS
- ➤ Officials in the Dubuque Community School District are considering school closures as a budget crisis from declining enrollment and low state funding could drain reserves in three years. Superintendent Amy Hawkins said proposals for cost cuts will be released by the end of the school year during public discussion. Radio Dubuque
GOVERNMENT NEWS
- ➤ IDOT will inspect Julien Dubuque Bridge on Tuesday, Feb. 10 and Wednesday, Feb. 11 when eastbound lanes close from 6 a.m. to 3 p.m. and U.S. Highway 20 traffic is detoured via Highways 61/151 and state highways 11 and 35 in preparation for a rehabilitation project. KWWL
