Good morning, Dubuque.

Iowans from Monroe County and Edgewood testified before the Senate Committee on Small Business and Entrepreneurship in Washington D.C. urging officials to simplify the small business loan process as Senator Ernst supported raising the loan cap from $5 million to $10 million.

Data from Iowa’s Department of Human Services shows that in 2025, 3,685 Dubuque County households and 7,616 individuals received SNAP benefits — a 1% increase from 2024.

The rise signals a modest growth in local reliance on food assistance.
